Social networking and marketing on a dime

April 24th, 2008 by Emira · 3 Comments

Jennifer Perkins, of the Naughty Secretary Club, has an awesome article up on her blog right now about Social Networking sites and how she uses them to her marketing advantage. While it’s easy to think that Facebook was created solely for the purpose of wasting precious entrepreneurial time searching for your ex’s and elementary school crushes, it can also be an entrepreneur’s best friend. For now anyway, one of the truly awesome things about using social networking sites for business purposes is that unless you’re talking about purchasing ad space, you’ve basically got just as much power as the big guys and often in fact the bigger players don’t play well in an arena that rewards authentic connections. Anyway, if your curious about how you can use MySpace, Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, Goodreads,, LinkedIn, Stylehive, etc. for genuine business promotion and not just idle time-wasting go read Jennifer’s post.

Hello! I found you through another blog and I’m glad I did. First – I love the look of your site (beautiful). Second – you have great resources and tools and I’m definitely coming back!

    Thank you!

Hey Emira thank you so much for blogging about my post. When I wrote that post I felt like I was coming out of the closet about all the social networking sites I belong to and everyone would think I was nuts. So glad people are finding the post helpful. I have heard rave reviews about your book and need to get a copy. I’m teaching a seminar this summer on running a small business so it would be perfect reading!
