The Boss of You

This post goes out to all the Canadians who have been asking us where they can buy our book. Wouldn’t we like to know? OK, we’re kidding. Sort of. Here’s the scoop…

So. Last Thursday, May 1, was the official release date for The Boss of You, but the book has yet to make an appearance in Canadian bookstores as far as we know. Amazon.ca has begun shipping it, which is awesome, but Chapters/Indigo, for some reason, lists the release date as May 10 — and as far as I can tell, they haven’t started stocking it in their stores yet either. (I’m basing this in part on the fact that their “store lookup” feature tells me none of the Vancouver locations have it in stock, and I double-checked by stopping by the West Broadway location today and cruising the aisles myself. Drowned my sorrows in a copy of Veganomicon, thank you very much.)

I suspect this may have to do with Canada Customs, who seem a little more behind schedule than usual given the strong Canadian dollar’s effect on cross-border commerce, but really that’s just a best guess.

Unfortunately we just don’t know any more than that at the moment. You’re welcome to inquire of your local bookseller whether they are carrying The Boss of You, of course, and if not perhaps you can persuade them to get it in stock posthaste. And if you know of anywhere besides Amazon.ca that’s stocking it, perhaps you’d be so kind as to leave a note in the comments.

How long ’til Canadian bookstores catch up with their American cousins? We’ll let you know as soon as we hear.

Edited to add: We’ve heard from Sophia Books (450 West Hastings Street in Vancouver, where we’ll be appearing Wednesday night) and they definitely have copies in stock, so if you’re in Vancouver, head there first!

Update (May 9, 2007): It looks like Chapters/Indigo now has copies in stock in many stores across Canada. Hooray!
