To celebrate the launch of The Boss of You, we are embarking on a week-long blog book tour. “What’s a blog book tour?” I hear some of you ask. Well, it’s basically the online version of a book tour, where we visit a few of our favourite bloggers, share some thoughts and advice, and answer questions.
We’ve decided to make this week’s theme “Hiring Help.” Each day we’ll be tackling a different aspect of the hiring process, from figuring out when and who to hire, to figuring out how to maximize the financial benefits of having helpers at work.
Here’s a quick run-down of the friends we’re going to be visiting this week:
- Tuesday, May 6: Michelle Goodman’s Anti 9 to 5 Guide is the companion site for her book of the same name, which is a guide for women on building the career of your dreams. Michelle is a font of wisdom for freelancers especially, and a fellow Seal Press author who’s been a generous friend and supportive colleague to us.
- Wednesday, May 7: We first met Felicia Sullivan when we were editing our (now defunct) e-zine, Soapboxgirls, and she sent several writers our way via her online literary journal, Small Spiral Notebook. We share her passion for food and we both loved her book, The Sky Isn’t Visible from Here — like, in an “I can’t put it down but I don’t want it to end” kind of way. I devoured it in a weekend but saved the last two pages for several weeks (no kidding) because I quite seriously wasn’t ready to say goodbye to it yet. She’s a tireless supporter of writers of every stripe, and we’re fortunate to be among that number.
- Thursday, May 8: Lorissa Shepstone is a more recent acquaintance, but is someone we should’ve known ages ago. The founder and Creative Director at All Things Girl, she’s a fantastic web designer as well as a blogger with whom we have more than a few things (and friends) in common. Thank goodness we finally connected.
- Friday, May 9: We’ll be wrapping up the blog tour with our dear friend Alex Beauchamp. Alex is the woman behind a number of our favourite websites, including Girl At Play, Another Girl At Play, Hygge House, and more.
We’ll be posting links to each book blog tour entry on the day it appears, so watch this space!
