We often receive press releases about grant and prize opportunities for entrepreneurs, but this past week I got word about one that fits so closely with our values that I’m very excited to share it with you.
Eileen Fisher, a clothing company that puts environmental and social consciousness at the forefront of its business principles (yay!) offers annual grants of $10,000 to women-owned businesses with less than $1.5 million, and who embody “Socially Conscious principles,” which they define as “a commitment to one or more of the following: the environment, social justice, the community your business is situated in, or the individual growth and well-being of your employees.”
Not only is this a great opportunity for women leading small & growing businesses — this is an incredibly inspiring model for me. I’d love nothing better than to be in a position to offer grants like this someday, and help foster sustainable, socially conscious businesses. So cool.
If you or someone you know meets the eligibility criteria and could use $10K to grow your business, send them here to complete the application process — you’ve got ’til June 1, 2009 to apply.
