Win a pair of tickets to Handmade Nation!

July 2nd, 2009 by Lauren · 6 Comments

I mentioned last week that the movie Handmade Nation is coming to Vancouver next week, and we are delighted to announce that we have a free pair of tickets to give away! The screening is next Thursday, July 9th, at 8:00 PM and there’s a craft showcase beforehand which promises to be lots of fun, too. This is definitely the place to be for those of us who love crafts and artisan goods.

All you have to do to enter the contest is leave a comment on this post, and tell us about your favourite hand-made thing. It can be something you love to make yourself, or someone else’s creation — whatever you like. We’ll select a winner at random from the entries. The contest will close Monday, July 6th at 5:00 PM (Pacific Standard Time). Please note that to be eligible you will need to use a valid email address as we’ll be contacting the winner via email.

Good luck!

Update: A winner has been chosen! Congratulations, Zach!

have the book – would love to see it in action!

fave handmade thing by someone else: whichever etsy purchase might be down in the mailbox now awaiting my squeals and oohs and aahs. ;-)

or fave thing that i’ve made? lately, it was the most adorable simple art smock for my wee guy, made with amy karol’s smock pattern and some rad japanese whales + pirates fabric obtained at buy the yard 2 in the spring.

Flip, I can’t wait to see this doc. I love the book and the illustrations by Kate Bingaman-Burt.

Favorite hand made thing as of late, a flower print sewn machine gun a friend from Emily Carr made for me. She also made a life size tank you can take naps in, it’s glorious.

Favourite hand made thing by someone else – some crocheted lace made by my great-grandmother.

By myself – the hat I just made for my one year old son:

Favorite handmade thing? Right now it’s the cross-stitched space invaders pillow my sister made for my husband’s birthday. It’s a definite grab during a fire item.

grandma mabel always made crocheted sachets that looked like little spring baskets of flowers. she crocheted them using sewing thread or tatting thread ~ they were small, only 1.5 x 1.5″. with a cotton ball stuffed inside after being sprinkled with perfume, the sachets were to be used in your hankie box. and yes, of course, all the linen hankies in the hankie box had crocheted or tatted lace edges.
