Announcing the Vancouver Grassroots Business Association

September 29th, 2009 by Lauren · 4 Comments

Grassroots Business AssociationToday we’re pulling the wrapping paper off something very, very exciting.

We are beyond thrilled to unveil a project we’ve been scheming about for a few months, which is to bring a chapter of the Grassroots Business Association to our hometown of Vancouver.

As some of you may know, the gals who run the Seattle Grassroots Business Association are friends of ours, and we’ve long admired their model. They hold monthly meetings for entrepreneurs (both established & aspiring), and provide a practical, accessible way for business owners to connect & learn from one another. It’s the kind of business group I always wanted to be part of. No suits in the crowd, no sales pitches disguised as workshops — just real people sharing their business challenges and successes and supporting each other in building a vibrant, local business community.

So we approached Megan, Kristen & Andrea and asked how they’d feel about us opening a satellite group in Vancouver. They responded with an enthusiastic thumbs-up and we’ve been working ever since on laying the groundwork.

Of course, a group is only as strong as its members, so now that we’ve got a structure in place, we need you to help us spread the word. Please tell everyone you know in Vancouver, especially the ones who usually avoid “networking” events like the plague.

The first event is on October 19th. The website is here, and you can RSVP to attend our kickoff event at Meetup.com. (You can also follow us on Twitter at @GrassrootsBiz.)
